Business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, except for July and August, at 7:30 p.m. Agenda consists of committee reports and plans for future activities. A cultural program usually follows, along with dessert and coffee provided by members.
Regular events at the auxiliary include: Pot Luck Dinners, Breakfast with Santa, Ten Penny Party, Eiche Picnic, Christmas Gifts for children in trampoline and tumbling classes, preparation of food for the Super Bowl Soiree, and many other activities of the Turner Society.
Financial assistance has been given to Eiche in the form of monetary donations in excess of $10,000. We have also purchased a coat rack/trophy case in the foyer, new kitchen refrigerator, a lighted podium, entrance doors to the building, banquet tables, table skirts, changing tables in the bathrooms, American Flags, and kitchen furnishings and replacements.
We make donations to community organizations, as well as food and clothing items to the Tinley Park Food Pantry.
The auxiliary has been meeting on a regular basis since its inception in 1905. Our first home was at 200 Kensington Ave. We moved to Roseland at 115th and Indiana in 1930 and sold the building in 1973. We then met at Dolton Park until our new hall was built in 1983 at 16767 S. 80th Ave. in Tinley Park.
It is the auxiliary's desire to continue our support of Turnverein Eiche in the years to come. If you would like to be part of this worthwhile and gratifying volunteer organization, please contact the Eiche Turner office at (708)429-2206 for an application. Dues are $10.00 per year.
